Deepening Cooperation with the UK Government in AI
Cooperation with the UK Government
On December 10, 2025, Google DeepMind announced the expansion of its partnership with the UK government to accelerate the implementation of artificial intelligence in science and education, as well as to modernize public services and enhance national security.
Access to Advanced AI Technologies
The partnership will focus on providing access to advanced AI technologies in two key areas: scientific discoveries and education. The UK has a rich history of applying new technologies to achieve scientific progress.
- AlphaEvolve - an AI agent for developing complex algorithms.
- AlphaGenome - an AI model for understanding DNA.
- AI co-scientist - a virtual scientific assistant.
- WeatherNext - weather forecasting models.
These tools will help researchers tackle complex challenges, including crop resilience and antimicrobial resistance.
Automated Scientific Laboratory
In 2026, the first automated laboratory of Google DeepMind will open in the UK, focusing on research in materials science. The laboratory will utilize robotics to synthesize and characterize hundreds of materials per day.
Enhancing Education with AI
AI will also be used to improve the educational process. In a pilot program in Northern Ireland, the use of Gemini helped teachers save an average of 10 hours per week by optimizing administrative tasks and lesson content.
