Accelerate Telecommunications Transformation with AI and Automation
AI is accelerating the transformation of the telecommunications industry, becoming the foundation for autonomous networks and AI-based wireless infrastructure. The technology opens up new business opportunities as telecom operators speed up the adoption of AI among consumers, enterprises, and governments.
According to NVIDIA's report on the state of AI in telecommunications, 90% of respondents claim that AI helps increase annual revenue and reduce costs. 77% expect AI-based networks to be launched before the deployment of 6G.
65% of telecom operators report that network automation is being carried out with the help of AI. 60% of organizations are using or evaluating generative AI, which is an increase from 49% in 2024. 89% of telecom operators believe that open models and software are crucial to their AI strategy.
Forecasts suggest that 89% of telecommunications companies plan to increase AI spending in 2026, which is 24% higher than last year. "There is a significant shift happening in the telecommunications industry driven by AI," noted Sebastián Barros, managing director of Circles.
The report also highlights that AI delivers tangible profits and returns on investment. 90% of telecom operators confirm the positive impact of AI on revenue and costs. The most common use cases for AI that yield returns on investment include autonomous networks (50%), improved customer service (41%), and optimization of internal processes (33%).
Autonomous networks provide a quick return on investment by eliminating human labor from repetitive processes. 88% of organizations report being at autonomy levels from 1 to 3, and the use of generative AI is expected to accelerate the transition to levels 4 and 5.
Investments in edge computing are changing the architecture of telecommunications networks, bringing AI closer to users through distributed computing infrastructure.
